Code of Ethics

At Logos Centre, we adhere to the ethical principles and codes of professional conduct of the Bulgarian Association for Psychotherapy, the European Association for Psychotherapy and the American Psychological Association (APA).

Human dignity. The person opposite us is never simply a ‘case’ or a diagnosis. Every meeting begins with respect for their personal freedom, conscience and responsibility.

Confidentiality. Everything shared in the consulting room stays between therapist and client. We make exceptions only in the strictly defined circumstances relating to safety that are provided for by law.

Informed consent. We believe in transparency. Every client knows the method we use, the practitioner’s qualifications and whether their therapeutic work is discussed in supervision.

Limits of competence. We work only within our expertise. When a situation calls for different support, we make a considered referral to a psychiatrist, doctor or another appropriate professional.

Respect for personal values. The therapist does not impose a worldview, ‘prescribe’ ready-made meaning or substitute their own conscience for the client’s.

Clear professional boundaries. To keep the therapeutic space safe and free of conflicting roles, we do not enter into dual relationships — we do not provide therapy to people close to us, relatives, friends, employees or our trainees.

Supervision and support. Every practitioner at the centre receives regular supervision, including the supervisors themselves. This ensures ongoing quality and care in the therapeutic process.

The right to end therapy. Clients are free to end therapy at any time. The therapist, in turn, must propose ending the work and referring the client to a colleague if they judge that the work together has reached its limits or is not providing the expected support.

The Centre voluntarily commits to observing the ethical principles of the American Psychological Association (APA).
